Rusti Support

by Kynoss Studios

Rusti is a daily quiz on the basics every adult learned and most have forgotten — ten multiple-choice questions every morning across math, English, science, social studies, and geography. Compete with friends on Game Center leaderboards, set up a household leaderboard for the family, and challenge friends head-to-head on a single subtopic. Privacy-first: no operator-managed accounts, no tracking, no ads.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Rusti work?
Each morning a new ten-question quiz is delivered globally. Every player gets the same ten questions on the same day. You have one attempt, and a soft 60-second timer per question — a faster correct answer earns a small time bonus that breaks ties on the leaderboard. Wordle-model scoring: you always answer all ten, and your score differentiates you on the leaderboard rather than eliminating you.
What kinds of questions does Rusti ask?
Foundational basics across five subjects: four math, two English, two science, one social studies, and one geography per day. Questions are sourced from open educational curriculum and edited for the daily-quiz format. The framing is the things every adult learned in school and many have forgotten — not advanced trivia, not pop culture.
What's the difference between the free experience and Rusti+?
Free includes today's quiz, friend leaderboard via Game Center, family household leaderboard via CKShare, the spoiler-safe share scorecard, basic seven-day stats, and a daily push notification. Rusti+ (one-time unlock) adds Practice Mode (infinite practice quizzes from the retired-question pool), Family Dashboard (parent-facing weekly per-kid report), Challenge Mode initiation (subtopic-targeted head-to-head challenges with friends), the full quiz archive, detailed per-subject stats, monthly streak freeze, themed share artifacts, customizable push time, calibration insights, and extended family pool. Free users can respond to incoming Challenge Mode invitations.
How does Challenge Mode work?
A Rusti+ player picks a subtopic — for example, multiplying fractions, world capitals, or vocabulary roots — and invites one or more friends via Game Center or a shared link. Each player has 24 hours to play the same ten-question challenge independently. When the last submission lands, everyone sees a side-by-side reveal: who scored higher, who was faster, and who's actually rusty. Free users can play any challenge they're invited to; only Rusti+ unlocks the ability to start one.
How does the family household leaderboard work?
Set up a household and invite family members through Apple's CKShare framework. Adults in the household sign in with Game Center; kids participate through display-name-only sub-accounts inside the household record. Kid sub-accounts have no email, no birthdate, no separate identity, and never appear outside the household leaderboard — they're COPPA-clean by construction. The free tier supports up to five kid sub-accounts; Rusti+ extends the pool.
Does Rusti collect any data or track me?
Rusti has no operator-managed accounts, no analytics SDKs, no third-party trackers, and no ads. Your daily-quiz answers and challenge results are written to Apple's CloudKit (the same iCloud infrastructure your photos and Notes use) so the friend leaderboard works — but the only adult identifier in those records is your Game Center player ID, an Apple-managed opaque token. Kynoss Studios cannot see your name, email, or any other personal information. See our Privacy Policy for the full disclosure of what's stored where.
Does Rusti require an internet connection?
An internet connection is required for daily quiz delivery, leaderboards, family household sync, and Challenge Mode. The app processes everything on your device once a quiz is loaded — only your scoring submission and Challenge Mode submissions are transmitted (to Apple's CloudKit). There is no Kynoss server.
When does the daily quiz reset?
A new quiz is published globally each day at midnight US Eastern. Every player receives the same quiz at the same UTC instant, so leaderboard semantics are preserved across time zones. Rusti+ lets you customize the push-notification time, but the underlying quiz boundary stays the same.
Can I replay today's quiz?
Each daily quiz can only be played once per Game Center account — that's how the leaderboard stays honest. Rusti+ unlocks Practice Mode, where you can replay any retired daily quiz without affecting the leaderboard, and the full archive, where you can browse and replay past dailies.
What happens if I leave the app mid-quiz?
The 60-second-per-question timer keeps running while you're away — taking a call, locking the screen, or switching apps doesn't pause it. If you force-quit and reopen, Rusti restores the same questions and the same answers you'd already chosen, with the wall-clock you spent away subtracted from the current question's timer. This is intentional: every player gets one honest attempt per day, and the timer is part of the attempt. Don't start a quiz when you can't finish it in one sitting.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
Local data on your device (game history, archive cache, statistics) is permanently removed by iOS when you delete the app. Your CloudKit submissions and Game Center records are retained by Apple in your iCloud / Game Center profile and will reappear if you reinstall — that's how your streak, friend leaderboard standing, and family household persist across reinstalls. To remove your data from CloudKit entirely, sign out of iCloud or use Apple's Privacy & Data settings.
What iOS version is required?
Rusti requires iOS 25 or later and is designed for iPhone.
